Vision Sound & Light Expand in Dundee with Acquisition of IT Company

Vision Sound and Light (VSL) today announced that owners and local entrepreneurs Gary and Roz Langlands, have acquired Computer Technology (Scotland) Limited (CTS), who have been based in Dundee for the lat 15 years.

Founded 18 months ago, VSL provide audiovisual, IT and Broadcast expertise to Education, Local Authority and Corporate clients with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) requirements. CTS, previously owned by local businessman Archie Macfarlane, has provided IT services to local authorities and Tayside businesses for over 15 years and Archie will now be concentrating on one of his other companies, Computer Recycling Scotland (CRS). CTS are contracted to CRS to help customers comply with waste recycling legislation under the WEEE Regulations, a full commentary of which can be found on the website www.cts.co.uk..

Both businesses are now based out of VSL, Headquartered in Barlow Park, Broughty Ferry and the acquisition will provide a strong technology uplift with significant expertise in IT, storage, network, server and image management solutions now added to audio visual which will allow customers an integrated solution from one supplier.

Key supplier relationships with Dell, HP and Sony mean that not only competitive pricing is available locally, but through Partner Agreements, CTS will act to provide services for clients to set up servers, asset tag and register equipment as well as provide ghost imaging services, all prior to system arriving on clients premises.

As there are many businesses of 5 – 25 staff are now setting up networks to provide full information access to staff and to streamline operations, CTS can apply their years of experience in supporting Tayside business owners with these installations. CTS can also demonstrate a high-level of service provision to public sector clients such as Angus Council and Dundee City Council.

Gary Langlands MD of VSL and CTS comments, “The fit between CTS and VSL is fantastic – both are in the added value reseller (VAR) category, both have blue chip Public and Private sector clients and both are high technology providers. IT is at the heart of most AV installations and benefit can be driven from total integration where for example an audio visual technician in a school or college can view the exact status of all projectors and associated equipment from his desktop and make remote adjustments as required to improve presentations or the delivery of lectures or even to spot problems or the end of life for projector lamps. VSL wanted to be able to offer clients this service and CTS were absolutely perfect as an acquisition.”

Vision Sound and Light are forecasting sales in this financial year in excess of £2 million and CTS will take the group turnover to around £3 million and provide employment for more than 12 staff on Tayside.
