Dundee Hi Tech Firm secures £50k business with Glasgow Science Centre

The major Glasgow attraction Glasgow Science Centre (GSC) has worked closely with Tayside Company, Vision Sound and Light (VSL) to develop the audio visual element of a new attraction in the complex – The Climate Change Show and also replace the giant old technology projectors with the latest slim line Sony models in the stunning IMAX® Cinema.

The Climate Change show is a one of a kind family experience filled with stunning environmental effects recreating weather and climate changes before the eyes of the audience. The show is designed to educate the audience about the impact of climate change on the earth and how by changing our behaviour, climate change can be brought under control. Working closely with GSC’s Greig Shaw, head of audio visual, VSL provided LCD portrait screens and projection equipment to allow the special effects to be shown.

Gary Langlands MD of VSL comments,

“The shows which are put on in the Glasgow Science Centre are captivating, especially for the many school parties which regularly frequent the centre. We were very excited to be involved with the Climate Change room, which was officially opened by HRH Princes Anne, The Princess Royal. We have also supplied GSC with three replacement Sony VPL-FX51 projectors for their spectacular IMAX® Cinema and are very pleased to be supporting GSC with audio visual maintenance and ongoing projects.”

The Glasgow Science Centre and other science centres in Scotland were awarded increased funding a few months ago and recently, the Environment Minister, Ross Finnie launched a public consultation on tackling the consequences of climate change (The Courier 3 December 2004).

Langlands added, “If more school children and adults were to see this Climate Change show, it would be far easier to understand what we can all do to start to address this climate change issue. We are looking forward to helping support GSC with their next project which adds real value to the understanding of science in our everyday lives.”
